Big Bud most likely came from Afghani, Haze and Northern Lights genetics in the 1980s, though the exact recipe is not documented. Sensi Seeds preserved and stabilized it after it reached the Netherlands. It has fourteen descendants on file and is a foundational parent for high-yield commercial strains.

It came out of the 1980s US market, most likely from Afghani, Haze and Northern Lights, and was smuggled to the Netherlands during the drug war. It took the overall 1989 Cannabis Cup. The name is literal: the buds are enormous.
It is a yield strain first.
What to Expect
Big Bud is a heavy, sleepy indica. Leafly's reviewers lead with relaxed at 60 percent of a solid sample and sleepy at 51, with a strong hunger note at 37, and the descriptions run to a powerful body high that ends the evening. There is a brief euphoric lift first.
