Charlotte's Web was bred by the Stanley Brothers in Colorado, who crossed an unspecified strain with industrial hemp and selected hard for high CBD with almost no THC. A strain called R4 sits in the documented line. Its full parentage was never published. Its place in the record is as the strain that carried CBD into the mainstream.

Charlotte's Web is the strain that put CBD in the news.
The Stanley Brothers in Colorado bred it to contain very little THC and named it after Charlotte Figi, a child with severe epilepsy whose case a 2013 CNN documentary made widely known. That coverage helped move CBD into the legal and cultural mainstream. It also carries a strain called R4 in its background.

Charlotte's Web produces a mild, clear-headed calm with almost no intoxication. Leafly's reviewers lead with relaxed at 54 percent of a solid sample, with uplifted at 42 and a focused streak reported alongside. The very low THC keeps the head fully working.
The recorded side effects are minor, led by dry eyes and dry mouth in the low teens. With THC this low, an overwhelming reaction is not really on the table. It is a morning strain; it is not for anyone chasing a high.
