Chemdawg's origin story is a bag of weed bought at a Grateful Dead concert in 1991 with thirteen seeds in the bottom of it. After that the accounts split. Some name a grower called Chemdog, some involve a plant called Dog Bud, some route it up the East Coast and some through Colorado. Several people have claimed it over the years.

The beginning is unrecoverable. That leaves an honest question for anyone at the counter: if the history cannot be trusted, what are you actually paying for under this name?

Inhaled, Chemdawg comes on fast and settles in the head. Across roughly 4,800 Leafly reviews, happy and euphoric lead at 53 and 52 percent, relaxed and uplifted follow in the mid 40s, and creative sits lower at 31 percent. A body weight builds later and further back than the strain's potency reputation would suggest. Our records place it in the afternoon rather than at the end of the night.

What you get for the price is the plant that fathered Sour Diesel, OG Kush and Headband, plus a high that still holds attention on its own terms. It rewards someone who already knows they like a loud, fuel-forward hybrid and a quick start. A first session or a low-tolerance evening is the wrong place to meet it, because it does not ease in. Paranoia and a racy head each show up in about one review in twenty, not high but worth a smaller first pass if that is your pattern. Dry mouth leads the minor complaints at just under 30 percent, and larger amounts tip the experience from bright toward heavy and eventually sleepy.

Caryophyllene may account for the peppery weight and Myrcene for the muskier base, but the diesel and solvent notes that define the smell are not explained by anything on a standard panel—sulfur compounds, which most labs do not report, are likely part of what your nose is doing.

Chemdawg THC sits between about 17 and 26 percent in our records, with a lab-measured sample near 22. CBD barely registers. CBN runs a little high at around 0.16 percent, which usually points to older or more oxidized flower.
