Alpha-phellandrene and beta-phellandrene are terpenes. Alpha-phellandrene can be found in eucalyptus oil while beta-phellandrene can be isolated from the oils of water fennel. Phellandrene is also found in Pine, Ginger Grass, Mint, Cinnamon, Lavender, Angelica and Parsley.
This terpene is known for a Minty and Citrus aromatic profile. Phellandrene is also known to have a woodsy aroma.
These profiles naturally complements such topical products as massage oil and would be the perfect match for a mint chocolate chip ice cream.
The Beneficial Effects of the Phellandrene Terpene
Researchers have found evidence that Phellandrene can be a useful Sedative, Antioxidant, Anti-Anxiety, Anti-Microbial, Anti-Parasitic, and Pain-Relieving properties, and may be an Insect Repellent. Evidence shows that it can enhance drug delivery through the skin, with studies showing enhancements to absorption of two other terpenes -- Eugenol and Citronellol.
