Origin

Purple Punch is a cross of Larry OG and Granddaddy Purple, and that pairing is agreed across sources even though the original breeder is not clearly identified. Larry OG contributed the heavy, body-melting side; Granddaddy Purple the grape and blueberry flavor and the color. It has been an extremely productive parent, and our records link 22 descendant strains, most of them carrying "Punch" in the name and the sweet-fruit profile forward.

00 Seeds Bank's record agrees with 7 other breeders: Apothecary Genetics, Barneys Farm, Big Head Seeds, Gold Leaf Gardens, Purple Caper Seeds, SeedStockers and 1 more.

The difficulty to grow Purple Punch is known for being average. For growers cultivating indoors, expect 0.8 m height with a 350 g/m2 yield with in about 7–8 wk. Outdoors, harvest around September.

Cultivation Notes

Purple Punch is a medium-difficulty grow. It stays small, around 0.8 meters, and finishes fast, in about seven to eight weeks, which is quick for an indica-leaning plant. It does best in a temperate climate with strong light and regular topping to keep the canopy open. Sources disagree on its resilience: the breeder data rates its disease resistance well, while grower accounts warn it is prone to mold and to caterpillars outdoors. Indoor yield is around 350 grams per square meter. Grower and breeder figures.

About

Purple Punch opens like a dessert: blueberry and grape candy, sweet and bright, with a quick one-two of euphoria to match. It is a cross of Larry OG and Granddaddy Purple, and it inherited the flavor from the Granddaddy side and the body weight from Larry OG.

The front end is lively enough to feel like the whole strain. It is not. The punch in the name lands later, and it lands on the body.

What to Expect

Purple Punch is a fast, front-loaded high that drops hard. Across roughly 1,700 Leafly reviews, relaxed leads at 71 percent, then happy, euphoric and sleepy. The early reports describe an immediate floaty, between-the-eyes lift; within a short time that folds into a heavy, sedating body settle that multiple write-ups call the defining feature.

The catch is the flavor. It goes down so easily that taking one more hit than you meant to is common, and with this strain the extra hit is the difference between a relaxed evening and being asleep before the film ends. A modest dose is floaty and pleasant; a larger one is flattening. Ease into it despite the flavor; the sleepiness is the point, not a side effect.

Flavor and Aroma

Purple Punch is sweet and fruity in a candy register: grape and blueberry up front, a fruit-punch or Kool-Aid note, and a blueberry-muffin sweetness with a touch of vanilla. There is a light herbal, earthy base underneath. The flavor follows the smell closely, and the sweetness builds on the exhale.

Terpenes Explained

Purple Punch's measured panel leads with Limonene and Caryophyllene, with Humulene, Myrcene, Linalool and Pinene in smaller amounts. That is a brighter reading than the heavy body effect might suggest, a reminder that the panel tracks smell more reliably than it tracks how a strain feels.

The grape and blueberry candy impression is mostly not on the panel at all; it is carried by fruit-type compounds that a terpene reading does not track. Use the numbers to compare one Purple Punch batch to another, not to predict the sedation.

Cannabinoids and Potency

Purple Punch THC runs from about 18 to 25 percent in our records, with a lab-measured sample near 15. CBD reads around one percent, which is higher than most modern THC-dominant strains. Several sources note the strain hits harder than a low-20s number would suggest.

That gap between the figure and the feel is what to act on. The sedation is not really about the THC total; it is about the strain, so treat a Purple Punch dose more cautiously than the percentage alone would tell you to.
