It has been a Northern California legend since the 1980s, though its origins, a phenotype of Granddaddy Purple or Mendocino Purps, are still argued. The high lifts happy and euphoric first, then flattens into a very stoney, munchie-heavy body stone. The purple color is just pigment.

Leafly's reviewers lead with relaxed at 63 percent of a solid sample, with sleepiness almost level at 61, and its closest set puts relaxed and dry mouth at the top. The second half is heavy.

The negatives are what you would expect from a heavy indica: dry mouth around 31 percent, dry eyes at 18, and not much above the single digits past that. It is a strain for the end of the night, nothing earlier. A moderate dose is plenty.

Purple Urkle smells sweet and fruity with grape and a skunky edge over earth. The flavor is grape soda, plain and simple, with a berry-blueberry sweetness and a skunky background. It is one of the clearest grape flavors in the catalog.

Purple Urkle's measured panel is Myrcene-dominant, reading from about 0.4 to nearly 1 percent, with Caryophyllene and Limonene behind.

That is a very high Myrcene reading. The grape-soda note itself is not on the panel; it comes from lighter aromatic compounds a standard test does not report, the same class behind Granddaddy Purple's grape. A jar with a genuine grape smell over the skunk is the well-grown one.

Purple Urkle THC is reported from about 18 to 21 percent by most sources, with the lab-measured sample in our data near 16. It is moderate by modern standards, and the heavy effect owes more to the strain's character than the number. CBD is a trace.
