Critical Mass is a selected, stabilized version of Big Bud, which itself came from Afghani crossed with Skunk Number 1. It was bred down for even bigger yields and a heavy indica effect. It has eight descendants on file and is a common breeding parent. Its value is the yield it passes on, more than anything about the smoke.

Critical Mass grows buds so heavy they snap their own branches.
It comes from Big Bud, itself an Afghani and Skunk cross, selected hard for yield. THC sits around 20 percent, sometimes with a notable CBD reading, and the effect is a heavy, sedating body high. It is a grower's strain first.

Critical Mass is a heavy, sedating body high best kept for the evening. Leafly's reviewers lead with relaxed at 69 percent of a solid sample, with happiness and a euphoric lift behind it and sleepiness at 36. Several sources describe a clearing of the mind before the body sinks.
Dry mouth leads the negatives at 30 percent, with dry eyes at 17 and the sharper notes low. A moderate dose is enough given how sedating it gets. It is a nighttime strain.
Flavor and Aroma
Critical Mass is a pungent, sweet, earthy smell, strong on the plant and milder once smoked. The flavor runs sweet and piney with a citrus and skunk edge over earth. It is a classic skunk-and-Kush profile.
