Origin

Grapefruit has no single verified pedigree. The common thread is Cinderella 99 crossed with a sativa selected for grapefruit flavor, but the name covers at least two distinct lines, BC Grapefruit and Nectar's Grapefruit, with different growers behind each. It has ten descendants recorded here. Given all that, the clone source tells you far more than the name does.

3 lineage claim sets recorded. The one shown is attributed to Female Seeds; the others are in the tabs above, each with its own source.

About

Grapefruit is a name shared by at least two different strains.

Our sources split it into BC Grapefruit and Nectar's Grapefruit, both sativa-leaning, both traced loosely to Cinderella 99 crossed with an unnamed sativa selected for its grapefruit taste. It is an old community favorite, and exactly which version you have is rarely clear on a label.

What to Expect

Grapefruit is a morning strain. Leafly's breakdown leads with happy at 63 percent, then uplifted at 56, energetic at 50, euphoric at 41 and focused at 35, from a large number of reviews. Sources describe a fast head rush that settles into a relaxed, still-functional state, so it works for waking up and getting going.

Dry mouth is the main complaint at 25 percent, with dry eyes further back and dizziness or a paranoid note rare. It is a poor evening choice.

Flavor and Aroma

Grapefruit is exactly what the name says: sweet, tangy pink-grapefruit citrus, with a tropical and lightly grape-like sweetness behind it and a pineapple note some cuts show. It is one of the more literal strain names on the menu. The flavor holds the sour citrus through the exhale.

Terpenes Explained

Grapefruit has no terpene panel in our data, only Myrcene, Caryophyllene and Ocimene as recurring names without amounts. The bright citrus points to a Limonene-heavy profile, but that is not something our records confirm.

With two strains sharing the name, the smell of the jar is your best check on which one you have and whether it is any good. Trust the nose.

Cannabinoids and Potency

Grapefruit THC is charted up to about 20 to 25 percent in some sources, though the lab-measured sample in our data came in near 12 and older listings call it modest. CBD is absent. The spread likely reflects the different strains under the name.

Do not assume a strength from the name; buy on the specific batch's test.
