Mendocino Purps is a foundational purple strain whose own origin is a blank.

Also called The Purps, it is described as the inbred descendant of a locally dominant Mendocino County indica landrace, with no verified parents. It won High Times Cups in 2007 and 2009 and became a parent to a long list of purple strains, including Granddaddy Purple.

Mendocino Purps is a heavy night strain. Leafly's breakdown leads with happy at 59 percent, relaxed at 58 and euphoric at 54, from a large number of reviews, but a separate reviewer set puts relaxed and happy at the ceiling. The associated words are dominated by a dreamy, couch-locked heaviness. Sources warn low-tolerance consumers about strong drowsiness.
