Origin

NYPD is an Aurora Indica cross. Our records resolve only the Aurora Indica side; the second parent is given variously as a Mexican sativa, El Dorado or Aurora Borealis. The indica parent is where the Myrcene-heavy profile and the body weight come from; the sativa half the citrus and the name. The Aurora Indica half is the documented part; the rest is a question mark.

The difficulty to grow Nypd is known for being average. For growers cultivating indoors, expect average height with a moderate yield with in about 8–10 wk. Outdoors, harvest around October.

Cultivation Notes

NYPD flowers fast, in as little as six weeks, on a large plant that often tops 78 inches. Reported yields run 350 to 450 grams per square meter, and growers suggest soil and organic inputs to bring out the aroma. It finishes outdoors in October. Grower and breeder figures.

About

NYPD is short for New York Power Diesel, and the name oversells the aggression.

From Nirvana Seeds, it crosses Aurora Indica with a Mexican sativa, though sources also name El Dorado or Aurora Borealis as the second parent. The lemon-diesel smell suggests a hard sativa; the effect data leans the other way.

What to Expect

The sharp diesel-and-lemon nose points to an energetic strain. NYPD is more balanced than that. Leafly's breakdown puts uplifted and relaxed both at 45 percent, then happy at 43 and euphoric at 40, from a solid number of reviews. Deeply relaxing tops the associated words. The body side arrives early.

Dry mouth, at 18 percent, is the main flag. A dizzy note is more common here than usual. Keep the dose moderate.

Flavor and Aroma

NYPD is sharp lemon and citrus, sour and pungent, with a skunky, earthy base and a menthol note some cuts carry. The diesel in the name is a sharp fuel edge rather than a heavy one. The flavor is sour and lemony with a cool finish.

Terpenes Explained

NYPD has a measured terpene panel in our data, and it is heavily Myrcene-dominant, at roughly 0.80 to 0.91 percent, with Caryophyllene next and smaller Humulene, Limonene and Terpinolene. That Myrcene-forward profile fits the body-leaning effect better than the bright citrus smell does.

It is a useful case: the aroma and the name both suggest an up strain, but the terpene numbers and the reviews point to a relaxing one. Smell tells you less here than usual.

Cannabinoids and Potency

NYPD THC is reported across a wide band, from about 15 to 24 percent, with the lone lab reading in our data corrupted. CBD is absent. Sources put the average around 19 to 22.

Assume a strain in the low twenties and buy on the batch's own test, since the reported range is too broad to plan around.
