Parent Strain

Shangri La

Hybrid

Origin

Shangri-La is a cross of Fudo Myo-o and 9 Pound Hammer, though our records do not resolve the parents. 9 Pound Hammer, a grape-heavy indica known for a hard body effect, is where the weight and the relaxed effect come from; Fudo Myo-o the sativa structure. The indica half is the dominant influence, which the terpene profile confirms.

About

Shangri-La is labeled sativa-dominant and lands squarely on the couch.

Bred by JinxProof Genetics and now with TGA, it crosses Fudo Myo-o with 9 Pound Hammer, a sativa paired with a heavy grape indica. The name promises paradise; the effect promises an afternoon off.

What to Expect

Shangri-La opens bright and settles heavy. Leafly's breakdown leads with uplifted at 71 percent and relaxed at 65, but deeply relaxing tops the associated words by a wide margin. It is an afternoon strain that starts energetic and does not stay that way.

Dry mouth and dry eyes are mild, near 10 and 13 percent, with a light headache note. It is a comfortable strain at a moderate dose.

Flavor and Aroma

Shangri-La is earthy and piney with a sage-like herbal note, a light citrus edge and a skunky, floral undertone. It leans savory rather than sweet or fruity. The flavor is earthy and herbal with a piney finish.

Terpenes Explained

Shangri-La has a measured terpene panel in our data, led by Myrcene at roughly 0.43 to 0.61 percent, with Pinene ranging widely behind it and smaller Limonene, Caryophyllene and Linalool. The wide Pinene range means the piney intensity varies between cuts.

That Myrcene-forward, piney profile lines up with the relaxed effect better than the sativa-dominant label does. Smell a batch for how strong the pine reads.

Cannabinoids and Potency

Shangri-La THC is reported around 20 to 22 percent, a firmly strong level, though the lone lab reading in our data is corrupted. CBD is a trace. Sources call the potency middle of the road, which fits the low anxiety rate.

Treat Shangri-La as a low-twenties strain that turns heavy after the first half hour, sativa label or not.
