The History
In 2005, Deverites approved a ballot measure that made the city the first to decriminalize possession of up to 1 ounce, of cannabis. Colorado voters legalized recreational weed and established regulation of weed in the state constitution with the 2012 passage of Amendment 64. Recreational cannabis was legalized in 2014, resulting in 147 licensed retail stores. That number has ballooned to over 500.
Legalization pushed Colorado into a decade long economic expansion and transformed Denver from a gateway to the Rocky Mountains into a cannabis destination. Denver experienced an influx of hip hotels, craft restaurants, new breweries, electric live-music venues, galleries and museums.
Unfortunately, dispensaries aren’t allowed to offer delivery services.
